DEADLINE NEAR FOR SARATOGA COUNTY SEEKS MEETING ON LANDFILLS.(Local)

Saratoga County officials apparently have taken to heart warnings that they are facing the forced closure of 15 small landfills serving the county's 180,000 residents two years before the proposed county landfill will be ready to accept garbage.

Board of Supervisors Chairman Robert L. Hathaway, in one of his final acts before stepping down at the end of the year, tentatively has scheduled a meeting with state Environmental Conservation Commissioner Thomas Jorling to discuss extensions of the April 1 closure date.
