Fed:ALP promises further AWB scandal inquiry if elected

Labor's promised a judicial inquiry into how much the HOWARD government knew about
Australia's wheat exporter paying kickbacks to Iraq .. if it wins the next election.

Opposition Leader KIM BEAZLEY says the terms of reference of the current commission
of inquiry must be extended to include the government's role in the scandal.

Otherwise .. he says .. he'll launch another inquiry if Labor wins the next election.

So far .. commissioner TERRENCE COLE's been told the government knew the AWB was paying
money to the trucking company that funnelled it to SADDAM HUSSEIN's regime.
